History
Nieboer Heating & Cooling, Inc. began in 1993. Its ownership consists of Bob & Edith Nieboer & Luke & Pam (Nieboer) Vanderhill.
Roots in our community run very deep. Years ago the Kalamazoo area had been served by Nieboer-Rynbrand Heating and Air Conditioning. The name goes back to 1922 when Mr. Glen Rynbrand started a heating business called G.W. Rynbrand Company. In the 70’s, our father Phil Nieboer, owner of Nieboer Bros., Inc., and Glen Ryanbrand joined their businesses together and formed Nieboer-Rynbrand Heating and Air Conditioning. In March of 1990, Nieboer-Rynbrand Heating and Air Conditioning was sold and the new owners dissolved the company shortly thereafter.
Being part of a heating and cooling company was not new to any of us. Bob had been involved in the business all of his adult life and from 1990 to 1993 Bob & Edith had successfully owned, operated and managed their own heating business (B & E Heating & Cooling).
Luke had been employed full time in the business since 1984 and previous to that he put himself through college by working as a HVAC installer during the summer months.
Edith does not have the HVAC background that Bob and Luke have, but she does have organizational and financial management skills needed to run a business. Edith comes to Nieboer Heating & Cooling from Western Michigan University where she worked for approximately 15 years as Admissions Coordinator for the English as a Second Language Program.
Pam is not an active partner in the company at this time as she devotes her time to her children’s education and volunteers numerous hours to her church.
